We’re so happy to have friends and family joining us from near and far to celebrate our wedding. Below is some travel and accommodation information to help you plan your trip.

Getting to Plovdiv

If you’re travelling from abroad, most international routes will bring you into either Sofia or Istanbul, with Plovdiv easily reached from both cities.

FROM SOFIA
Sofia is the main international gateway into Bulgaria. From Sofia, Plovdiv can be reached by:

Car rental or private transfer (approximately 1.5–2 hours)
Bus or train (approximately 2.5–3 hours)

FROM ISTANBUL
Plovdiv can also be reached from Istanbul by car, private transfer, or bus. Travel times vary depending on route and border crossing.

Accommodation

Plovdiv has a wide range of accommodation options to suit different preferences and budgets. The hotels below are simply a few centrally located options you may find helpful, and there are also many great Airbnb and short-stay options throughout the city.

We recommend staying near the city centre for easy access to the venue and Plovdiv’s main attractions.

Local Tips

CURRENCY AND PAYMENTS

As of January 2026, Bulgaria has adopted the Euro (€, EUR). For international guests, a Wise or Revolut card is a convenient option with the best exchange rates and low fees, and works like a debit card in shops, restaurants, and ATMs.

LANGUAGE

While most people speak some English, it's helpful to have a translation app like Google Translate on hand. This can assist with reading signs, menus, and communicating in everyday situations.

WEATHER

Expect daytime temperatures of 17–26°C and evenings around 13–18°C. September is generally dry with about 8 hours of sunshine per day, so light layers are recommended for cooler evenings.

TRANSPORT

Taxis are reliable and rental cars are available for more flexibility.
